According to the decision approving the investment policy of the Management Board of Economic and Industrial Zones of Thua Thien Hue province, the investment project to build Wharf No. 2 – Chan May Port, invested by Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, has a total investment of 849 billion VND. The project has a total length of 280m, capable of receiving cargo ships with a capacity of up to 50,000DWT, including: Wharf with a length of 225m, width of 32.5m, 02 approach bridges, berthing area with dimensions of 260×100, depth of -14m, turning basin with a diameter of 340m and a depth of -13.5m, embankment to protect the bank, renovate the yard and the yard road in the port with an area of 4.92ha; Architectural works and technical networks…
In phase I of the project, Chan May Port Joint Stock Company will focus on investing in the construction of a berth to ensure 50,000DWT ships can dock; 01 approach bridge; Dredging the berth area to a depth of -12.5m; Dredging the turning area to -12.2m; Bank protection embankment, access road to the berth; Architectural works and technical network items. The total investment capital of phase I of the project is about 385 billion VND, expected to be completed and put into use in the first quarter of 2020.
Phase II of the project from 2020-2021, Chan May Port will complete the construction of the remaining construction items such as: Dredging the berthing area to a depth of -14m; Dredging the turning area -13.5m; Renovation of yards, roads and bulk cargo yards, Architectural works and technical networks; Port exploitation equipment… The total investment capital of phase II of the project is about 464 billion VND. The entire project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2021.
Chan May Port is one of the seaports included in the master plan for the development of Vietnam’s seaport system until 2030, has affirmed its position in the hearts of customers, agents, domestic and international shipping lines, and indirectly promotes socio-economic development and employment for Thua Thien Hue province in particular and the rear area in general. The investment in Terminal No. 2 – Chan May Port will open up many development opportunities for Chan May Port, completing the assigned orientations, goals and tasks.
