On the night of May 2, in Hai Phong city, Bach Dang Shipbuilding One Member Limited Liability Company (Shipbuilding Industry Corporation) launched a 17,500 DWT cargo ship named Truong An Ship.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tu Minh Hung, General Director of Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company, said that Truong An ship is a product the company constructed for the ship owner, Minh Thang Transport Trading Company Limited.
Truong An Ship has a capacity of 17,500 DWT, is a general cargo ship with high technical specifications, designed by Viet-Han Shipbuilding Engineering Design and Services Joint Stock Company. The ship meets the requirements of unrestricted ocean exploitation, has very high technical and operational features, and satisfies all requirements of standards and regulations for building new steel-hulled seagoing ships according to the classification and supervision of Vietnam Register VIRES.
The ship is nearly 150 m long, 23 m wide, 14.5 m high, and has a crew of 21 people. The ship is equipped with a main engine with a capacity of 4,500 kW, and a design speed of 16 nautical miles/hour. The 17,500 DWT cargo ship is a special product, meeting the highest regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
After launching, the ship will be integrated with the system, tested at the wharf, run long-distance trials and handed over to the shipowner according to the contract. “The cooperation in shipbuilding with Minh Thang Transport Trading Company has opened up a great opportunity for Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company to participate in the high-value shipbuilding market. The collective of employees of Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company will focus on human and material resources to ensure the construction of the new 17,500 DWT cargo ship according to the set schedule,” Mr. Hung emphasized.
Mr. Vu Van Vien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Minh Thang Transport Trading Company, expressed his gratitude to the employees of Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company for their dedication and the skills of Vietnamese shipbuilders to complete a product with high technical requirements. This will be an effective exploitation product with the brand name of the domestic and foreign shipping industry.
The ship owner’s representative also requested Bach Dang Shipbuilding Company and subcontractors to focus on human resources and time to complete the items, align the main engine and connect the equipment, check the technological steps to be qualified for testing at the wharf, long-distance testing, and strive to be qualified to hand over to the ship owner in more than 2 months according to the agreement.
